First Home Owner's Grant

Have you ever owned residential property in Australia before? If not, you may be eligible for a First Home Owners Grant.

Currently a $7,000 package, the First Home Owners Grant helps you in the purchase of your first home.

To take advantage you:

u

must be a natural person who is either a permanent resident or an Australian citizen

u

be over 18 years of age

u

must not have received the grant before

u

must not be a company or a person acting as a trustee

u

must be buying or building a home less than $750,000

u

or your spouse must not have owned an interest in land with a residence in Australia prior to 1 July 2000

u

or your spouse must, within one year of buying the property, move in and live in the property as your principal place of residence for at least six months

In Queensland, people who buy their first home may also be eligible for a transfer duty concession.  Other concessions may be currently available if you buy or build a home.
